A step-by-step guide on how to claim with Naked Insurance

A simple step-by-step guide to claiming with Naked Insurance, all from your phone. See what you need, and what happens after you submit your claim.

At Naked, we're all about making insurance claims easy and as stress-free as possible. Whether it's a car accident, a cracked windscreen, or a problem at home, the process is designed to be fast, clear and all done from your phone.

Here's exactly how submitting a claim with Naked works, what information you might need, and what happens after you submit your claim.

Step 1: Open the Naked app

Open the Naked app and head to the home screen, where you'll see your cover details. To start the claims process, tap the emergency triangle icon (⚠️) at the bottom of your home screen. From there, tap 'Make a Claim'. You'll then be connected with Jade, our friendly claims bot, who'll guide you through the process step-by-step.

Step 2: Chat to Jade

Jade will start the claims process by asking you which of your insured items you want to claim on.

For example, if you've been in a car accident, you may be asked:

  • When and where it happened
  • What led up to the accident
  • Details about the damage or anyone else involved

Try to be as accurate as possible.

Step 3: Tell us what happened.

Jade will ask you to record a short video selfie explaining what happened in your own words.

Think of it as telling us the full story: what happened, where it happened, when it happened, who was involved, and anything else that may help us understand the situation.

The important thing is to be as clear and detailed as you can. The more complete your explanation is, the faster we can assess your claim and the less likely we are to come back with extra questions later.

Step 4: Submit your claim

Once your video is done, tap 'Submit My Claim'. And voilà! You've successfully filed a claim with Naked.

Step 5: Keep an eye out for any To-Dos

Once you've given us the basic claim info, our system will review it and check whether we need anything else to assess your claim.

If we do, Jade will add these as To-Dos in the app. This could be things like a police report, photos of the damage, extra details, or your consent for certain actions.

We'll let you know about new To-Dos by email and push notification. Once you've submitted what we need, our team will take things forward from there.

Check the app and your inbox for updates.

You can track the status of your claim directly in the Naked app.

The app is updated regularly, so you can keep an eye on progress and see whether there's anything still needed from you.

Windscreen claims are often approved within 35 minutes. Simpler claims may take a few hours, while more complex claims can take a few business days.

You'll receive updates throughout the process via the app, push notifications and email.

What documents do I need to claim with Naked?

It depends on the type of claim, but you'll commonly need:

  • Photos or videos of the damage
  • A description of what happened
  • Supporting documents related to the incident

Jade will guide you through exactly what's needed for your specific claim.

Can I claim without a police report?

For some claims, like windscreen damage, a police report usually isn't needed.

For theft, hijacking, or accidents involving third parties, a police report will generally be required.

Jade will let you know what applies to your situation.

What happens after I submit my claim?

Once you've submitted your claim, our system will review the information you've given us and check what's needed next.

Some claims are straightforward and can be approved automatically. Others may need extra information or a manual review by one of our claims team members, for example if we need documents, photos, consent, or a bit more detail about what happened.

If we need anything from you, Jade will add it as a To-Do in the app. We'll also let you know by email or push notification, so you know exactly what to complete next.

Once we have everything we need, we'll assess the claim and take the next step from there.
