Extras & accessories

When you see the word ‘extras’ on your insurance policy, it refers to things that have been fitted onto your car that weren’t part of the car when it left the factory.

These extras refer to things like bull bars, tow bars, sound systems, canopies, roof racks, etc.

Do I need to tell my insurer about any extras added to my car?

Yes, you should always tell your insurer if you have added extra accessories to your car, as they are usually not automatically covered if you are in an accident or if your car is stolen or written off.

How do I know what values to specify for my extras?

You need to, for each extra, specify the amount that it will cost you to purchase and fit the same or a similar item.
